Location Maldives Pte. Ltd was established with three shareholders for management and registered in the Ministry of Trade and Industries in June 1994. The company has been active in advertising and graphic designing fliming documentaries, printing and publishing, exhibits and stalls, collecting and preserving antiques and conducting training courses in related spheres in media and broadcasting by means of both FM radio station and cable TV.

We have recently diversified our interest to the commercial market. Today we supply premium cosmetic, pharmaceuticals and nutritional supplements to the growing market demands. We have also expanded our business into the tourism and shing industries.

HISTORY

Location Maldives Pvt. Ltd. was initially involved in assisting as Local agents for foreign movie companies directing on location in Maldives which included Asahi TV Channel in Japan in 1996,PP productions of Czech Republic in 1998 and a well-known Chinese commercial, shot in Maldives for 7 Up soft drink. The company also conducted training programs in TV and Radio production separately in collaboration with MNBC involving Foreign Instructors.

Of recently, we have acted as local agents for establishing CCTV signals in Maldivian tourist resorts and have expanded into supplying consumer goods.

ANTIQUES DEALING

Location Maldives has a collection of original, old, Maldivian wooden houses (preserved and ready for assembling) which depicts the architecture and history of Maldives. These provide abundance of knowledge on Maldivian heritage, especially in living and lifestyle consisting of an array of Holhu Ashi, Haruge, and Fisherman’s, Toddy tapper’s, Katheeb’s and businessman’s house.

ARCHIVE

Our archive also contains an amply sufficient collection of material on tape, on the development of Maldivian trading from the early days up to now. These include interviews of the traders from Ceylon of that era. We plan to publish our second publication on Maldivian Trade and its development inclusive of photos and interviews with famous Borah merchants who started the 1st trading in Maldives.

PUBLISHING

We have published a book ( Currencies and Coins of Maldives ) on the history of currency in Maldives. The book contains how the use of currency evolved throughout the history from using seashells to paper currency notes. Moreover, currently we are in the works of producing two additional books. One about the historical journey of Maldives towards independence, the other about the importance of having a sense of national identity and striving to be self-sufficient as a country.
